Eligibility: MRU Hockey - Pozzi |

Eligibility Ruling

2010-11 SeasonPrior to last weekend’s games, MRU asked that Ms. Pozzi be declared eligible on an emergency basis as a goaltender for its Women's Hockey team. I was advised that both of MRU's goaltenders were injured, leaving the team with no goaltenders. The appropriate eligibility forms were to be submitted to the ACAC office. However, MRU asked that the four (4) day waiting period be waived under the circumstances. Article I Section 13 Rule 10.1 of the ACAC Operating Code is worded as follows: On an emergency, one-time basis, such as for back-up purposes when regular goalkeepers have been lost due to injury or for academic reasons, it shall be permissible to use a goaltender who is a full-time student at the ACAC member institution in question even though the athlete may be playing concurrently with another team. An appeal can be made to the Commissioner to waive the 4-day eligibility certificate submission deadline to the full-time status requirement. I am confirming my ruling that Ms. Pozzi was eligible to compete immediately for MRU. The 4 day deadline was waived. Sincerely, |
