2022-23 SeasonJanuary 31, 2023
Hello Randy, Trina and Alan. I’m providing this notification to you on behalf of ACAC Commissioner Bill Hendsbee. This information is being shared with these ACAC Women’s Hockey institutions because 2 were involved in the game in question (RDP and OC) while LLC is the upcoming opponent for RDP. A resolution in this format, which dispenses with a formal investigation/ruling, is being circulated in the interests of efficiency for all concerned. Background During a January 28/23 Women’s Hockey game involving Olds College @ RDP, #44 Molly Flynn from RDP was assessed a 5 Minute Major Penalty and a Game Misconduct for allegedly striking and injuring the Olds College goaltender with head contact while the goaltender was extended reaching for a loose puck. RDP provide video evidence that contradicted the ruling on the ice since the video clearly shows that the inadvertent head contact was caused by contact from an Olds College teammate and not Flynn. The issue was brought to the attention of the Hockey Alberta Referee in Chief CJ Senkow who agreed that the incorrect ruling was issued by the officials and that RDP’s Flynn should bear no further consequences. Resolution The on-ice call will stand since it was a judgement call in real game time by the official. There is agreement by Senkow and Commissioner Hendsbee that the automatic one-game suspension is lifted and #44 Flynn will be eligible to play the next RDP Women’s Hockey game vs LLC. Respectfully, Mark Kosak, CEO |
